The workshop behind the popular crypto battle royal game Off the Grid, Gunzilla Games, announced on Tuesday that it had purchased the long-running display magazine and website publication after its previous owner GameStop shut it down.

But why would a cryptogaming studio buy a lost video game publication and send it back from the dead?

Theodore Agranat, Gunzilla Games ‘ Web3 Director, described this decision as “very important” to the film’s long-term strategies, and one that Off the Grid players may find beneficial in the future.

According to Agranat,” We are the creator of the largest Web3 AAA game ecology, and that is GUNZ,” in reference to the organization’s dedicated Avalanche L1 system. We strongly believe that our long-term goals are greatly impacted by this acquisition.

While Gunzilla Games is best known for Off the Grid, a battle royal shooter that attracted a lot of attention in earlier this year, its goal is much wider as it works with the GUNZ network, which will launch its mainnet and sign on Monday.

Therefore, Agranat claimed that having “long-term position” with a well-known entertainment magazine “makes feeling” for GUNZ and Gunzilla Games. Before closing in August, was active for 33 times.

We strongly believe there won’t be any game differences between Web2 and Web3. It’s all just gaming, Agranat told . The biggest producers in the world will, in our opinion, embrace bitcoin technology, and we want to be positioned as an AAA game ecology for that purpose.

Some fans expressed excitement over the reset, and some Web3-skeptic gamers expressed some problem.

Gunzilla and both claimed that the magazine would work as an independent entity, which is a good thing because Agranat claimed Gunzilla hasn’t also asked the editor group if they enjoy crypto activities. Agranat said he doesn’t think or any other game magazine do” dark ban” a great game on the grounds that it used crypto.

Editor-in-Chief of Game Informer Matt Miller told ,” We don’t have an objective to change our editorial policy toward a particular area of focus.” We have often covered game that we think our readers may find interesting, and we have also covered games that have crypto or NFT components in the past. We will be more than happy to do so in the future.

Despite Miller stating that this kind of coverage may be accompanied by an editorial publication, Gunzilla Games said it would be happy to grant exclusive access to its ecology that other papers wouldn’t be able to access.

Agranat added that if wants to use blockchain, the magazine can use Gunzilla and Gunzilla’s wider cryptotech stack at any time. However, Brian Shea, an executive editor for , claimed that the company “has no current plans to integrate that technology.”

Agranat also questioned whether the purchase might be advantageous for players in the Off the Grid and GUNZ ecosystem, suggesting that a subscription could be included in the premium Off the Grid Pro subscription, which offers players exclusive rewards.

” I can see that having access to this magazine [could ] be a benefit to our gamers, without having any preconceived notions of what will be covered in , because that’s up to the journalistic staff,” he said. ” But what is up to Gunzilla is: Where do the subscriptions go?” What advantages do our gamers have of being in our ecosystem?

Off the Grid is currently having a busy week as Gunzilla prepares to transition GUNZ to the mainnet on Monday and launch the network’s native GUN token, a significant achievement for the game and the broader Gunzilla ecosystem.
