Ted Cruz (R-TX ), a senator from the United States, has introduced a new bill that aims to convert energy into electricity for Bitcoin mining.

The March 31 introduction of the Facilitate Lower Atmospheric Created Emissions Act aims to turn waste energy into power by capturing gasoline that would otherwise be flared or vented. The intention is to encourage this capture by providing total reimbursement for the property used to get that gas.

Cruz especially cited crypto miners as a direct result of this excess energy. He said in a statement announcing the bill’s passage that it “takes benefits of Texas’s great strength possible, strengthens our position as the residence of the Bitcoin business, and is good for the environment.”

The Senator reiterated his devotion to “making Texas the number one position for Bitcoin mining,” noting that the FLARE Act encourages companies and crypto workers to use natural oil that would otherwise be stranded.

China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia are among the competing nations that will not be permitted to participate in the plan, according to the U.S.-focused costs.

Hailey Miller, Director of Government Relations & Public Policy at the Digital Power Network, praised the new act in a media release from Cruz’s office, claiming that Bitcoin workers are “uniquely positioned to help reduce pollution by harnessing stranded and wasted energy sources.” The FLARE Act, according to Miller, “ensures that British electricity producers have the resources to build cutting-edge options that make our power industry more effective and tenacious.”

The fresh Act had particularly amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow for permanent complete expensing for real estate that includes fuel that would otherwise be flared or vented and used in value-added items.

While providing new electricity and “other useful outputs,” this measure should also improve grid resilience.

Donald Trump pledged that” all remaining Bitcoin” would be mined in the U.S. as part of his reelection campaign, so Cruz’s bill came after his. Bitcoin supporters have long believed that mining the cryptocurrency could be a way to harnessed the excess energy from natural gas flaring, or the practice of burning off excess gas that can’t be either economically captured or transported.
