OpenAI is making its prime AI company, ChatGPT Plus, available at no cost to school students across the U. S. and Canada for a minimal time, the company announced this week.
Eligible individuals at degree-granting organizations you get ChatGPT Plus for complimentary between March 31 and May 31, 2025. The registration will be active for two weeks from the day of claim.
OpenAI’s site promotes the company as” it to help you through the finals” through assisting with study, articles summarization, brainstorming, and writing and editing assistance.
It comes a time after rival Anthropic announced a student-focused program for Claude.
Both organizations have rolled out for individuals amid a broader and continued controversy over the role of relational AI in training.  ,
Teachers and researchers have expressed worry that students are using tools like ChatGPT to finish assignments without engaging profoundly with the substance, raising issues of intellectual dignity and skills development.
In an interview with , one high school teacher said students were using the technology to “outsource their thinking” and” cheat”.
A study conducted by Microsoft earlier this year found that while conceptual AI can increase productivity, it may also lead to reduced important engagement and long-term overreliance, inevitably affecting users ‘ separate problem-solving abilities.
