Elon Musk, according to OpenAI, tried to take over the business, but he was unsuccessful, and the Artificial study company claims it has the emails to support this claim.

In a recently filed lawsuit, OpenAI accuses Tesla CEO Elon Musk of trying to take over the business he helped found by allegedly attempting a hostile takeover of the company through what it refers to as “bad-faith strategies” and a” self-serving narrative.”

In addition to seeking compensatory and punitive damages at a potential test, along with injunctive reduction to prevent further intervention, OpenAI seeks to stop Elon Musk’s reported campaign of intimidation and disturbance, which is centered on a fake$ 97 billion takeover bid.

As it shared inside emails showing Musk pushing to turn OpenAI into a for-profit organization, OpenAI’s standard office wrote in a boiling post on X that” these antics are only history on repeat.”

While Musk has frequently argued that OpenAI strays from its original volunteer quest, OpenAI claims that Musk himself was the first to advocate for a fundamental change as long as he was in charge.

In an email to CEO Sam Altman in November 2015, Musk began to question OpenAI’s structure, stating that a” standard C corp with a parallel nonprofit” would likely align incentives better. &nbsp,

has not yet been able to independently confirm the OpenAI messages. Tesla and SpaceX, Musk’s firms, did not immediately respond to ‘s request for comment.

For-profit imperative

As OpenAI’s needed for assess scaled with its Dota 2 experiments were being scaled, Musk allegedly&nbsp encouraged rise by writing,” Let’s find out the least expensive way to ensure determine energy is not a constraint” in June and July 2017.

And so did the conversation change that summer. Musk allegedly agreed that a for-profit model might be required on July 13, 2017. Days later, he warned that China’s AI ambitions were yet another reason to” change course.”

In exchange for funding and demanding to be CEO, Musk allegedly took control of OpenAI’s board in September 2017. &nbsp,

He proposed a structure that would appoint four of his seven board seats, according to emails from that month. He allegedly wrote,” I would unequivocally have initial control of the company.”

Open Artificial Intelligence Technologies, Inc., a for-profit shell company, is claimed by OpenAI, and Musk also allegedly instructed his team to do so. The company intends to rehabilitate OpenAI’s intellectual property there.

Pushback

However, OpenAI turned around. Co-founders expressed concern that Musk’s structure could lead to an “AG I dictatorship” in a sincere message.

The conditions were rejected. Musk replies,” Discussions are over. I’ll stop funding OpenAI.

Musk allegedly suggested acquiring Tesla from OpenAI in January 2018, claiming that this would be the only way to raise the necessary billions. He wrote,” OpenA I is on a path of certain failure in relation to Google.” &nbsp,

The team, according to OpenAI, turned down the opportunity to become a Tesla subsidiary once more. Musk left OpenAI in February 2018 and was no longer its co-chair.

Years later, he has now reappeared through the courts.

In a lawsuit filed by Musk against OpenAI in March, Musk aimed to stop the company from moving to a cap-profit model. A judge in the United States agreed to an expedited trial scheduled for fall 2025 despite declining the injunction.

In response to the lawsuit, OpenAI had earlier released Musk’s emails, which depicted a founder who, despite his public stance, was already campaigning for profit, exclusivity, and consolidation years prior to filing suit.

In a deal that valued xAI at$ 80 billion, Musk has founded a rival AI startup called xAI.

For its part, OpenAI announced a$ 40 billion funding round led by SoftBank, increasing its valuation to$ 300 billion. That’s nearly four times the valuation of Musk’s startup xAI.

In its countersuit, OpenAI stated,” We’re getting ready to build the best-equipped nonprofit the world has ever seen.” The notion that we have given up on our mission is untrue. That is made clear by Elon’s own emails.
