Find AI, a U. S. based business focused on building AI-powered human robots, severed its ties with OpenAI last year, with CEO Brett Adcock claiming a “major miracle” in robot intelligence that made the partnership superfluous.
The two businesses made the announcement just months after Number 02, Inc., announced their engagement alongside a$ 2.6 billion money round.
” I made the decision to terminate our partnership contract with OpenAI now.”, Adcock tweeted. ” Find made a major milestone on fully end-to-end machine AI, built wholly in-house”. The move marked a dramatic turnaround for Number, which originally planned to employ OpenAI’s models for its Determine 02 humanoid’s healthy language capabilities.
Adcock explained in a separate blog that it became less and less practical for his business to keep a relationship with OpenAI to use its LLMs.
“LLMs are getting smarter but more commoditized. For us, LLMs have rapidly become the smallest element of the puzzle”, Adcock wrote. Additional AI partnerships are cumbersome and finally irrelevant to our success because Figure’s Artificial models are built entirely internally.

In the next 30 weeks, we’re excited to show you something that no one has ever seen on a human.

The decision was made in response to wider changes in the AI environment. OpenAI itself had been rebuilding its robotics team, filing a trademark application mentioning “humanoid robots” —alongside a wide array of other technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality, agents, and gadgets. It started hiring technology professionals for its first jobs next month.
Some AI fans quickly realized that the decision may be just one more result of the DeepSeek effect, which has already forced the most effective Artificial companies in the world to lower the cost of all of their SOTA designs in order to compete with open-source options.
OpenAI provides one of the most costly LLMs in the market—with DeepSeek R1 providing better results than OpenAI o1 while being accessible free, open source, unencrypted, and highly customizable. Determine had just been betting on an internal basic model to support its roster without relying on OpenAI’s offerings.
Figure has already signed a contract with BMW Manufacturing to incorporate human-like robots into mechanical production, and it has just recently formed a partnership with a significant U.S. client that would be its next major, major business client.
Adcock stated on LinkedIn a week ago that “it gives us the ability to ship at great volumes,” which will reduce costs and reduce AI data collection. ” Between both buyers, we believe there is a way to 100, 000 computers over the next four ages”.
Find created a data engine to power its “embodied synthetic knowledge” systems, enabling its robots to understand and adapt in real time using fog and edge computing solutions. The company’s systems allowed its robots to listen to speech prompts and do tasks that included language, vision, and action.
” We’re working on training the machine on how to do employ case operate at higher speeds and higher performance” Adcock said. The only way to learn about the usage cases of AI is to learn them.
OpenAI continues to make investments in different robotics startups, including Norway business 1X.
Adcock promised to reveal the fruit of Model’s “breakthrough” within 30 times, and he wasn’t simple with his words. He vowed that the announcement had become” something no one has ever seen on a human.”
Think he picked up from the best.
