Bryan Johnson, a technology investor and biohacker known for his extreme anti-aging search, has switched from the contentious process of putting his son’s blood into a full plasma exchange in the constantly evolving biohacking and efficiency research landscape.
Johnson chose not to because it was obscene to inject your child’s body. He tweeted on Tuesday that he had done it because he thought a plasma exchange did keep him alive more than injecting himself with the vital fluids of his offspring.
Total Plasma Exchange ( TPE), or Therapeutic Plasma Exchange, is a medical procedure that removes a patient’s blood, separates the plasma, replaces it with a substitute, and returns the blood to the body.
Activists say TPE you treat a host of problems, including developing gallup, Guillain-Barre illness, diabetes, Wilson’s disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple disease, long-haul COVID, and age-related issues like Alzheimer’s and anti-aging.
My staff and I aim to find out what works best when it comes to using TPE as a revival and lifetime therapy by putting this protocol into practice along with detailed measurement, Johnson said, adding that the therapy has shown “measurable effects in delaying and reversing age-related disease, including dementia, as well as the capacity to lessen natural age.”
I am no longer injecting my son’s blood.
I’ve upgraded to something else: total plasma exchange.
Steps:
1. Remove all blood from the body
2. Plasma from blood should be separate.
3. Replace plasma with 5 % albumin &, IVIGHere’s my bag of plasma. Who wants it?

According to Johnson, his TPE treatment involves removing all his blood, separating the plasma, and replacing it with a solution containing 5 % albumin and intravenous immunoglobulin.
A concentrated blend of antibodies made from donated human plasma is called IVIG. It is commonly used to boost the immune system or treat immune-related disorders.
Johnson stated that the treatment would follow a bi-weekly protocol, which would include two TPE sessions followed by IVIG infusions four days apart.
His previous plasma exchanges with his father and son were documented in the 2024 Netflix documentary” Don’t Die.”
Other experiments included botox injections into his penis, as well as penis rejuvenation therapy.
Johnson did not respond to ‘s request for comments.
The treatment has some therapeutic value, according to medical experts.
” It’s like an oil change for your blood. It removes, cleans, and separates the plasma before returning it with albumin”, Shannon Starweather, Director of Operations at Seattle-based TPE provider Neuroveda Health, told .
Depending on the provider, treatments can cost between$ 5, 000 and$ 10, 000 per session and are usually not covered by insurance.
” For longevity, treatments are shorter than for disease. Most start with three sessions, then increase to six before maintenance”, Starkweather said. ” Typically, it’s two sessions a week, then once a month if tolerated”.
Starkweather noted that while the treatment has many advantages, it is not appropriate for those who have young children or who have active cancer.
While Johnson presented test results to emphasize the treatment’s effectiveness, Starweather said efficacy is determined on a case-by-case basis.
” We determine effectiveness per patient based on how they feel. It works in the cleaning process, with no downtime, and is very safe”, she said. It has been used in hospitals for about 50 years, and it has only recently gained recognition for more complex applications, but it is still difficult to access and expensive.
While TPE is generally well-tolerated, experts warn that it is not without risk.
” It can occasionally lead to side effects like mild electrolyte imbalances, temporary low blood pressure, or reactions to anticoagulants”, Dr. Paul Savage, Chief Medical Officer at Chicago-based TPE provider MDLifespan, told . The frequency of TPE should be carefully considered because excessive amounts of treatment without proper medical supervision may affect the body’s ability to maintain homeostasis.
Savage emphasized the advantages of therapeutic plasma exchange treatments despite these risks.
One of the most intriguing aspects of TPE is its influence on metabolic and immune function, he said. ” By lowering the body’s toxic burden and reducing systemic inflammation, TPE has been associated with increased energy, improved cognitive clarity, and enhanced immune resilience”.
