airdrop” target=”_blank” class=”sc-adb616fe-0 bJsyml”>Zoo, the popular Telegram game, has begun the airdrop claim period for its upcoming ZOO token on The Open Network ( TON ).
Users were able to use the Telegram mini app on Tuesday to declare their ZOO earned tokens. During this period, says are handled off-chain, meaning that the person will not have to give any fees. Once this period ends on February 25 at 9am UTC, users will be required to claim on-chain and pay a 0.1 TON ($ 0.35 ) fee, according to Zoo’s FAQ page.  ,
From the start of the Telegram small game in December 2024 until the “mining period” ended last fortnight, millions of players have built their own online zoos. The match resembled a mix of the well-known Facebook name Farmville and the model sport Zoo Tycoon, with players creating enclosures for animals to draw visitors and earning player-generated Zoo tokens.  ,
The builders had recently confirmed that Zoo tokens do match the airdropped tokens 1:1. However, next week the group said that it would simplify the process and slim down the offer by cutting the next three numbers from the count when converting—so if you earned 1, 000, 000, 000 in-game currencies, then you’d get 1, 000, 000 on-chain ZOO currencies.
It uses the same technique as the original tap-to-earn sensation Notcoin ( NOT ) used early last year to prepare for its own TON airdrop. The entire ZOO gift supply may become 264, 084, 737, 391, the group said. However, people have yet to hear the dollar price of the token, nor is there pre-market exchanging to speculate on its value.
ZOO will be listed and available to trade on multiple exchanges, including KuCoin and Bitget, on February 25 at 12pm UTC—the same time that on-chain claims open.
Zoo released its tokenomics earlier this month, revealing that 66 % of the total supply would be given to players who participated in the game’s mining phase. The remaining 34 % has been assigned to a vague and wide-ranging category of “further development, marketing, listings, liquidity, community incentives, market makers, team rewards, and more”.
After their token airdrops, previous Telegram games attempted to reinvent themselves to appeal to gamers who wanted to stay informed about the project. The most played Telegram game in history, with over 300 million players, released its second season on Tuesday following its airdrop in September. It’s still to be seen whether it can re-enter as many players.
