U. S. Securities and Exchange Commissioner Mark Uyeda may partially lead the crypto industry’s main regulation as acting head, amid a broader revamp across several federal government agencies.
The visit comes soon after SEC Chairman Gary Gensler stepped down as Wall Street’s best officer Monday, as expected, alongside President Donald Trump’s opening. The former president of the Commission said last November that he’d withdraw on January 20 due to changing social waves, signaled by the re-election of pro-crypto President Donald Trump.
Trump has nominated past SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins to move the SEC on a long-term schedule. It is unclear when Atkins ’ appointment will be approved.
The SEC did not immediately return ‘s request for comment.
Uyeda, a Republican, is an outspoken hero of the crypto business. In a meeting last October, Uyeda called the SEC’s care of the modern commodity market a “disaster. ”
“We have been sending this’policy through protection,’ we’ve done nothing to offer advice on it, and as a result, this has been achieved by the judges, and different courts have ruled different approaches, ” Uyeda said in the discussion.
