On Monday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will lay out a comprehensive plan that will establish the country as a global leader for artificial intelligence.
The” AI Opportunities Action Plan” is expected to drive economic growth, improve public services, and create thousands of new employment.
” Our schedule will make Britain the earth leader”, Starmer said ahead of the statement. It does “give the economy the base it needs,” he says,” and it will rekindle the Plan for Change.”
The action plan includes all 50 recommendations from Matt Clifford, the UK’s Advanced Research and Invention Agency ( ARIA ), who chaired the report last year.
According to the UK government, the economy may grow by £47 billion yearly over the next ten years if AI was entirely adopted, according to the Sunday press release.
The policy’s three key columns include building infrastructure, boosting AI implementation, and staying ahead of global competition.
Central to the program is the creation of AI Development Regions, with the first to be launched in Culham, Oxfordshire, and some planned for de-industrialized areas.
These areas will accelerate the development of essential AI system, including data centres, with refined planning processes and improved power exposure.
By 2030, Starmer’s management plans to double its computing power, starting with the design of a cutting-edge supercomputer that can play a half-million chess matches per second.
A fresh National Data Library may be introduced to safely access public information, supporting AI advancements, while an AI Energy Council will handle the technology’s power demands.
The initiative has attracted significant private investment, with Vantage Data Centres, Nscale, and Kyndryl committing around £14 billion ($ 16.9 billion ), generating 13, 250 jobs.
These jobs include the construction of Essex’s largest royal AI information center and one of Europe’s largest data centre campuses in Wales.
This follows the £25 billion ($ 30 billion ) in AI investments announced at last year’s International Investment Summit.
An AI Energy Council will work with power companies to meet AI’s energy needs while assisting the UK’s clean electricity goals is included in the AI Opportunities Action Plan.
The UK Prime Minister stated that artificial intelligence will cause “unprecedented change in our nation.” From instructors personalising instructions, to supporting smaller businesses with their record-keeping, to speeding up preparing software, it has the potential to transform the lives of working people.”
