Donald Trump’s returning to the Oval Office has been overshadowed by a significant constitutional loss as he prepares to win a next name in the president.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday denied President-elect Donald Trump’s urgent request to end his New York legal punishment, allowing the hearing to resume as scheduled for Friday.

The decision comes 10 times before Trump’s opening. He has been working on fulfilling his pledges in the last few weeks, including easing digital property laws and advancing bitcoin innovation during his term.

In a 5-4 decision, the court’s majority—including Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Amy Coney Barrett, and Ketanji Brown Jackson —held that the obligations imposed by the punishment were “relatively insubstantial”.

Following Trump’s judgment on 34 misdemeanor counts of falsifying business information to suppress hush money bills during his 2016 campaign in May 2024, the sentence was commuted.

The reading will be held basically, with the outcome of an “unconditional discharge,” which means Trump does avoid prison time.

” The alleged factual breaches at President-Elect Trump’s state-court test can be addressed in the regular training on appeal”, the judge wrote.

The opposing Justices—Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh—provided no justification for their criticism.

According to the prosecution, Stormy Daniels received hush-money payment as part of an effort to dissuade harmful claims in the run-up to the poll.

Trump has consistently refuted the allegations, calling the investigation a “witch chase” motivated by politics.

” This is nothing more than the weaponization of our justice system against a political opposition”, Trump wrote on his Truth Social system, describing the costs as “fake” and “fabricated”.

The President-elect criticized the prosecutor as “highly democratic and corrupt” while expressing his thanks for the Supreme Court’s work.

” We’re going to appeal yeah, just psychologically, because simply, it’s a disgrace”, he said during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago house on Thursday, according to a report.

Trump’s bitcoin programs

Trump made bold plans for the crypto market as part of his election campaign.

His proposals include establishing a national Bitcoin reserve, backing private crypto mining, and opposing the creation of a digital currency for the United States Central Bank.

Last month, Trump announced Paul Atkins, a former SEC director known for his crypto-friendly position, as his find to guide the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Atkins will step down as SEC Chair following Trump’s inauguration after receiving criticism from the crypto market for his intense enforcement activities.

Trump praised Atkins as a “proven head for common sense rules” and a proponent of innovative financial markets.

These efforts have earned Trump widespread support from bitcoin activists, who repeatedly accused the past supervision of a “regulation-by-enforcement” approach.
