President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday to promote artificial intelligence education in the United States, launching a nationwide program aimed at preparing students for careers in one of the world’s fastest-growing technology.
Trump signed an executive order in January, which overturned limits placed on him under the Biden administration, quickly before beginning his second term.
Trump will establish the White House Task Force on AI Education to guide the government’s work as part of the new program.
The work power, which will be led by the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, will also include David Sacks, the White House Special Advisor for AI and cryptocurrencies, as well as top officials from the Departments of Energy, Agriculture, Education, and Labor.
The White House stated in a statement that” America’s children have options to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to use and make the next generation of Artificial technology.”
Early training in AI will “demolish this systems and make America’s students to remain comfortable individuals in the AI-assisted workplace, propelling our country to new heights of scientific and economic achievement,” it continued.
Despite those aspirations, it is still unclear how the management will carry out the action, especially given the significant budget cuts that Trump made in March.
The work force may lead a National AI Challenge, according to the White House, to highlight scholar and educator accomplishments, encourage adoption of AI, and foster cooperation across sectors to address national challenges.
The White House wrote that” The Challenge may encourage and highlight student and educator achievements in AI, promote large regional adoption of modern advancement, and develop collaboration between government, academia, philanthropy, and industry to address regional challenges with Artificial solutions,” and”…”
Additionally, the order instructs the Director of the National Science Foundation to concentrate studies on AI in education and directs the Secretary of Education to promote AI in voluntary grantmaking for teacher training.
In spite of current budget cuts that Trump himself made, the success of the initiative does depend on how efficiently the White House is coordinate these Artificial education efforts.
The White House stated that “pension in our teachers is also required to prepare our kids to become leaders in AI systems, as well as providing them with the tools and information to both educate students about AI and use the technology in the classroom,” according to the White House.
