The well-known online discussion board 4chan has always been a source of conflict, but its most recent upheaval is completely interior. A rival party hacked the table, exposing customer data and adâncizing the divisions in a society built on chaos and anonymity.

Around 2: 02 p.m. EST on Monday, 4chan went online, with over 1,200 failure information recorded on Downdetector. Users on X ( previously Twitter ) quickly pointed out a hack carried out by an image-sharing platform known as the Soyjak Party, also known as” the Sharty.” To get 4chan’s machines, the hackers reportedly used outdated MySQL and PHP applications.

Since it was founded in 2020 as a platform for sharing” Soyjak” memes, which is a soyjak is an emasculated man, Soyjak Party has grown into a major hub for former 4chan users, especially those who came from the no longer active /qa/board, 4chan’s questions and answers section, which contained information about the site’s activities. The subsidiary of 4chan developed into a culture with millions of virtual posts.

Beyond the cultural fight, the breach even exposed sensitive data and equipment. The hackers accessed 4chan’s origin code, including users Internet logs, contact addresses, personal messages about bans, and user Internet logs.

A text on the Soyjak imageboard read,” Tonight has been a really special night for many of us at the Soyjak group.” A thief who has been in 4cuck’s method for more than a year carried out the correct operation soyclipse today, April 14, 2025, reopening /qa/, exposing personal information of various 4cuck employees, and leaking code from the website.

Despite the claim that the servers were now completely compromised, 4chan administrators claimed that all servers had been taken offline to stop the aftermath. Additionally, the article noted a large number of 4chan refugees crossing the Sharty, many of whom were violent against the tradition of the place.

The user claimed that” tonight has been cathartic” and that” for nuteens, the next old gods, and everyone in between” and that” for everyone.”

” Nuteen” is slang for new teens on the internet who are viewed as disdainful and ignorant of history or culture by their loved ones.

When they gained admittance, the hackers leaked origin code, administration files, and email names of moderators, some of whom were connected to true names and .edu domains.

When fake photos featuring.gov email names started to surface website, rumors that 4chan was a government server started to grow.

The breach may have been caused by long-standing tensions between 4chan’s /qa/ board, which was once used for site discussion, and /lgbt / board, which became a target of user raids, according to cybersecurity collective VX-Underground. Some of the customers who had left /qa/ were moved to Soyjak Party, where anger toward 4chan’s management continued to grow when moderators shut it down.

The conflict between 4chan and Soyjak is business as usual on image board, according to the anonymous Smelly, who identifies as the leader of VX-Underground.

In a Telegram chat with , Smelly said,” Geeks got hungry because they claimed 4chan was more akin to Internet then and that it had lost its edge—in significantly less friendly words.” So they left Soyjak. some people that decided to sacrifice 4chan, including some people from the forwarded domains.

This isn’t really surprising behavior because these imageboards and *chans have generally had conflicts with various sheets or realms, Smelly said.

4chan, an unnamed imageboard that was founded in 2003, was the genesis of virtual movements and viral memes while frequently deviating from the norms of popular platforms. Later in October 2017, the QAnon activity is thought to have been the source of many well-known cartoons, including lolcats, rickrolling, wojaks, and Pepe the Frog.

Over the years, 4chan has produced a number of questionable and high-profile situations that have influenced both online and offline media. The committee once or twice targeted Trayvon Martin, Sarah Palin, and Scientology. It was also a significant component of Gamergate, a movement that harassed popular female gamers, and was one of the primary instances where meme society was used as a political and cultural tool.

The latest data breach highlights the sarcasm that 4chan, a site built on panic, is now being destroyed by it.
